18th Edition of the PDBEB Symposium
The event
The 18th edition of the PDBEB symposium organized by the Doctoral Programme in Experimental Biology and Biomedicine (PDBEB) students, from the Institute of Interdisciplinary Research, University of Coimbra, will take place on the 15th and 16th of May 2024 at the Pavilhão Centro de Portugal.
Under the theme “(Not) Knowing What Comes Next: Tools for the Research of Tomorrow”, this edition is divided into two days. The first day is dedicated to Tech Tools and the second to the Impact on Society.

To register and submit an abstract please fill in the form.
Attendance is free but requires mandatory registration until 28th April 2024.
Registration includes:
- Access to the talks
- Access to the poster sections
- Lunches
- Coffee breaks
Registration does not include:
- Gala Dinner on May 16th. To guarantee your presence, a 5 € attendance fee is required. More information will be provided soon.
Abstract submission is open until April 28th 2024, and must be submitted via email: bebstudents2023@gmail.com.
After evaluation by a jury, 6 abstracts will be selected for oral presentation and the remaining participants that submitted an abstract will be eligible to present a poster.

The 17th edition of the PDBEB symposium organized by the Doctoral Programme in Experimental Biology and Biomedicine (PDBEB) students, from the Institute of Interdisciplinary Research, University of Coimbra, will take place on the 7th and 8th of February 2023.
Under the theme "Science Challenges: This Fight of Ours!", this edition aims at gathering a multidisciplinary panel, composed of nationally and internationally reputed speakers, to address current issues that affect the scientific community from a vibrant and interdisciplinary standpoint, with a special focus on science financing, clinical trials, mental health, and science communication. A roundtable with experts from different fields will discuss the reforms that science needs to ensure a healthy environment for researchers and students.
The second day of this event will be dedicated to Ph.D. students from the University of Coimbra, focusing on current and former PDBEB students, which will present and discuss their research projects and professional experiences. This will be an excellent opportunity for networking and sharing the ongoing research in the universe of doctoral programmes at the University of Coimbra.

The contest for the "Best Graphical Abstract Award" runs until the 22nd of January 2023 and the submission is made through the email bebstudents2023@gmail.com.
After evaluation by a jury, 3 abstracts will be selected for oral presentation and the other participants that submitted an abstract will be eligible to present a poster.
