ELEANA: Early-Life Environmental AllergeNs in ADHD

Overview

Project Summary

Allergy patients have up to 50% greater risk of being diagnosed with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). ELEANA is a clinical prospective study aiming at developing a machine learning-based algorithm that help predict the probability of a young child with allergies to develop ADHD based on clinical, laboratorial and ecosystem-related data.

Main Goals

ELEANA is a clinical prospective study in a Portuguese cohort of patients with allergies and ADHD (age- and sex-matched) aiming at: 1) identifying immune-related dysfunction in blood samples from patients that correlate with clinical outcomes; 2) evaluating the correlation between environment/ecosystem-related data and ADHD and allergy symptomatology; 3) developing a machine learning-based algorithm that predicts the probability of a young child with allergies to develop ADHD.
