Today, September 29, is World Heart Day. The CNC-UC marks this day through a partnership with TUMO Coimbra.
Every year, on this day, the World Heart Federation and its members throughout the world unite efforts to release information and bring awareness to the general populace about cardiovascular diseases.
In 2026, the campaign “Don’t Miss a Beat” reinforces the sharing of silent symptoms of cardiovascular diseases, personal care and preventative measures, and important statistics, as well as appeals for the creation of national plans specifically for combating these diseases.
The World Heart Federation also invites the populace to participate in the campaign by sharing personal stories relating to cardiovascular diseases and their impact on their lives with the hashtag #DontMissABeat. The federation further offers a quiz to test your knowledge on cardiovascular health, and incentivizes the practice of cardiovascular exercises and the sharing of your progress through their application and website.
