CNC-UC researcher and Professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Coimbra (FFUC), Cláudia Cavadas, will present her latest book, The Secrets of the Body (Os Segredos do Corpo), on 22 July 2026, at 6.30 pm, at Livraria Bertrand, Alma Shopping, in Coimbra.

The book launch will be hosted by Professora Catarina Resende de Oliveira, who will introduce the work.

Inspired by the idea that "it is not time itself that ages us, but the way our bodies respond to the passage of time," The Secrets of the Body brings together the latest scientific knowledge on the biological and social mechanisms of ageing. Throughout the book, Cláudia Cavadas explores topics such as genetics, epigenetics and the impact of lifestyle, demonstrating how factors including nutrition, physical activity, sleep and the social environment can shape the ageing process and contribute to the prevention of chronic diseases.

The book also reflects on recent scientific advances in the field and how this growing body of knowledge can be applied to promote healthier ageing and improve quality of life.

Cláudia Cavadas leads the Neuroendocrinology and Ageing research group at CNC-UC, where her team investigates the mechanisms underlying ageing and develops strategies to prevent age-related diseases. She is the author of more than 100 scientific publications in this field.
