Aim

Age-related neurodegenerative diseases share many pathological processes, including glucose dysmetabolism, mitochondrial deficits, redox dysregulation, neuroinflammation and chronic low-grade (systemic) inflammation. This advanced course aims to provide the latest update on the early involvement of altered energy metabolism and inflammation in two of the most common age-related neurodegenerative disorders, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases. An unbiased discussion about the preventive and/or therapeutic strategies aimed to fight these diseases will be also offered. Lectures will be given by the course coordinators, senior collaborators and external experts. Besides the theoretical component, the course will also include discussion sections with key speakers and time for students’ autonomous work.
