Project Summary
Brain Buskers is a project that aims to take Science to unexpected places. CNC researchers are challenged to communicate Science through hands on activities for different audiences, from 2-year-old children to senior groups, in several public spaces in Coimbra and surroundings, such as the academic celebration Queima das Fitas, Bissaya Barreto House of Arts, Gil Vicente Academic Theatre, downtown streets, Municipal Market, Figueira da Foz beach and Barra beach (Aveiro).
This project was funded by Biochemical Society in 2018 and the results were published at the international journal The Biochemist, entitled "The Brain Buskers Project: taking science to the streets", in September 2019.
Main Goals
Brain Buskers aims to promote Science outreach in an informal and playful way. This project joins Science with the daily and cultural life of Coimbra, engaging local communities in public spaces.
